HAAD Launches Specialised Website for Healthcare Professionals
The Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD), the regulatory body of the healthcare sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, announced the launch of its specialised website for Continuous Medical Education (CME) and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) (www.haad.ae/cme) targeting healthcare professionals in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The website provides health care professionals with necessary information on continuous medical education and professional development, revalidation of licensure requirements and standards concerning the proportion of hours for accredited educational activities.
The website encompasses comprehensive CME/CPD activities, accreditation criteria, accreditation forms, guidelines and manuals.
Dr. Ali Obaid Al Ali, Director of Health Regulation Division at HAAD said: "Continuous medical education and professional development of health professionals is a top priority for building the future and ensuring reliable health care for our community. Through continuing medical education programmes and professional development, we seek to improve levels of healthcare service for patients and improve healthcare outcomes."
In the first half of 2010, HAAD organised 43 activities attended by 7059 healthcare professionals, accredited 1,270 hours and processed, verified, and approved 3,396 applications as part of HAAD license renewal requirements.
Dr. Noura Al Menhali, Section Head of CME/CPD at HAAD said: "Through the website (www.haad.ae/cme), healthcare professionals will have 24/7 access to accurate up-to-date information, receive notifications on accredited CME/CPD upcoming activities, download educational materials and plan future learning needs."
